Favorite Products 2016
Since we’re at the end of 2016 I wanted to talk about all the products that I’ve been using, and loving, contiuously throughout the year.
Now, not all of these are new releases this year, but these are the products that I’ve been reaching for all the time.
The first product I wanted to talk about is the Clinique Mineral Sunscreen SPF50,
Now, I do tend to have issues with my SPF balling up and crumbling on my skin, but this doesn’t do that at all.
It does leave me with a white cast, but I do use a foundation on top of it, and it doesn’t disturb the makeup I put on top, so I really really love this SPF.
Next I have the Smashbox Primer Water.
Now, I’ve been raving about this so much so I won’t stay too long on this, but this does such a good job of keeping my skin hydrated, and it also helps remove abit of the powdery look I get when I apply too much powder.
Now, I know that people either love this or hate this, but I really really enjoy using this.
Next up is the Smashbox Color Correcting Stick in the dark peach shade.
Now, I haven’t used this for more than a few months, but I find that this does neutralize my dark circles a bit more than the next product I’ll talk about.
So I have been loving this on those days when I’m extra tired, and need that little bit of extra coverage.
So when I’ve been getting a bit more sleep, I love using the Bobbi Brown correctors.
I have it in the shades “Light Peach” and “Deep Peach”, so I can mix and match depending on how bad my dark circles are that day.
But these are not as pigmented as the Smashbox one, so I reach for these on the days when I don’t need as much coverage.
For foundation this year I’ve been loving the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish foundation.
It’s so easy to work with, and you can very easily control how much coverage you get from it.
The only thing is that it doesn’t set on it’s own, soc I would recommend setting it with a powder.
This next “foundation” is one I use more in the summer months becuase it’s too dark for me when I’m pale, but I truly fell in love the Smashbox BB Water this year.
This is so lightweight on the skin, it doesn’t get oily (if you set it with powder) and it does last all day.
So if you want a lightweight, natural “foundation” that still covers beautifully, I’d recommend checking this out.
Moving on I wanted to quickly talk about the MAC Studio Finish concealer.
I love using this for blemishes, or other discolorations I may have, and it covers beautifully.
Now, I woldn’t use it under my eyes since it is such a thick and heavy concealer, but this is my go to when it comes to spot concealing.
Next up I have the Urban Decay Naked Skin concealer.
Now, when I first tried this I didn’t really see what all the hype was about, but the more I used it, the more I liked it.
I wouldn’t say that I think that this is the best concealer in the world, but I have reached for it most of 2016.
The next product I have to talk about is the Smashbox Studio Skin concealer.
Now, the reason I like this is because I find that it gives around the same amount of coverage as the Naked Skin one, but I find that this feels a little bit less heavy underneath my eyes. And I also find that the shade suits me a bit better with this one as well.
However, you do only get .08 fl. oz with this, which is something to keep in mind because you will run out of this a lot faster than you might expect.
Next up is the Smashbox contour stick.
I love using this before my foundation to get that little bit of contour without making it too strong.
You can, of course, use it over foundation as well, but I just like it better when I use is before.
Now, I will say that it is easier to work with if you don’t let it sit on your face before you blend it, but it is so creamy, and it does blend out beautifully, so I do really enjoy using this.
Moving on to the Laura Mercier Loose Translucent powder.
Now, I’ve been using this powder all the time since I got it, and I love the way it sets my foundation and concealer, but I do not like it for baking because I find that it’s a bit too white and dry for me. Not that I’m a huge fan of baking to begin with, but I do really like it as a setting powder all over.
Next I have the Urban Decay Beached Bronzer.
Now, this is more of a summer type product for me, but I do really really love if because it is a very smooth powder, and it’s not overly pigmented, so it is very easy to controll. And I’m a huge fan of bronzers that gives me the opption to choose how much product I’m applying to my face.
My next favorite is the MAC Powder Blush in the shade “Fun Ending”.
This is a very pale pink shade, but it is my perfect shade of pink, and I love the glow it gives since it is a satin finish.
Now, my issue with this is that it wasn’t limited edition, but I can’t find it anywhere, so I’m not sure if you can get it anymore, but I have been reaching for this all the time. And I am sure that MAC has other pale pink blushes that look similar to this.
Now, my absolute favorite highlighter of all time is the Balm Mary-Lou Manizer.
This gives such a beautiful glow if you apply it with a light hand, but it can also be very blinding if you build it up (which also looks very beautiful).
It’s such a perfect champagne shade, and I cannot be without this.
Moving on to brows, I wanted to talk about the Studio 10 brow pencil.
Now, I never really got on board with the insta-brow trend because it doesn’t look good on me, (I’m not saying it doesn’t look good on other people), but I prefer to just fill in my brows whereever I need a bit more color, and I’ve been loving this brow pencil for that.
It does last all day, and it’s very easy to work with, so I do really like this.
Now, I have also been reaching for the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade quite a bit this year, mostly because I sometimes like to switch up the products I use.
And since this is very easy to work with because it’s very easy to both sheer out and build up, I’ve been loving this too.
Next up I have to talk about the Loreal Brow Artist Plumper.
This is the only thing I’ve been using to set my brows in place, and I love the way it makes my brows look a little bit fuller.
It also makes my brows stay in place all day without feeling or looking crunchy or hard, so I highly recommend this.
Next I have to talk about the Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette.
The shades in here are absolutly stunning, they’reeasy to work with, they last all day and you can get so many different looks from this palette.
So as long as you like warm shadows, I’d highly recommend you checking this out if you haven’t already.
Next is the Loreal Volume Million Lashes So Couture mascara.
Now, I do have long, mostly full lashes to begin with, so I don’t like mascaras the are too over the top when it comes to volume and length, and this can be buildt up quite a bit, so I can overdo it, but I can also chose to apply one coat and it will still make my lashes look good, so I keep reaching for this one.
For lips I have been switching it up a lot, but the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lip Liners are so good, that I’ve even kept them in my purse.
These are quite creamy and they do last for a long time on the lips, and for the price you can’t beat that.
I haven’t really tried any liquid lipsticks, mostly because I don’t like my lips to feel dry, but I did get the NYX Lip Lingerie, and I have been wearing the shade “Exotic” quite a bit.
Now, I don’t think that the formula is anything unique, and it is a bit drying (nothing too bad), but this spesific shade is so beautiful, and I have been loving it.
Next up is the MAC Lipstick in the shade “Fast Play”.
This is such a deep nude, and it goes with almost anything. I also like to sheer it out a bit on those days when I don’t really want a lot of color payoff, and it looks good no matter how you wear it.
I also find that it lasts for a decent amount of time, and it’s very easy to re-apply, so this one is one of my go to lipsticks.
And my last favorite is the Max Factor Color Elixir Lipgloss in the shade “Delightful Pink”.
Now this one I always keep in my purse, because it is such a soft shade of pink, it just makes my lips look a bit fuller and plumper. And it’s not very pigmented at all, so it’s very easy to just throw on no matter what kind of a makeup look you’re wearing that day, which is why I love it so much.
So, I would love to know what products you have been loving throughout the year, so let me know in the comments below.
