Review | Maybelline Matte Nudes
This is what it says on the Maybelline website:
Color Sensational® Inti-Matte Nude lipstick features warm, golden pigments that enrich your natural lip color.
Maybelline’s creamiest mattes. Warmer, more sensational nudes for every skin tone. Pucker up to radiant, confident color that highlights one’s natural beauty.
First of all I have to say that I’m a little bit unsure which line of Matte Nudes these spesific lipsticks are from, but from what I can find online they are closest to the new Inti-Mattes apart from two shades, so that may be because they have different names in Europe because the shades look quite similar (online at least).
Anyway, I was out looking for new makeup when I came across these, and they felt so creamy when I swatched them on the back of hand, so I ordered a few of the shades online when I got home, but sadly they don’t feel/look the way I expected when I apply them to my lips.
Now, when I first applied them to my lips I noticed that the lighter shades seperated on the inner part of my lips right away, and even though I tried to go over that part several times it just didn’t help with the separating.
However, the darker shades didn’t do that at all, so I guess the lighter shades are a bit more difficult to formulate, maybe?
Anyway, I do find that they’re all very pigmented, and I didn’t have to build up the lipstick for it to be opaque, which I can appreciate.
Especially since I do find this formula to be a little bit too thick.
The reason I think it is a bit too thick is because I find that it looks a little heavy on the lips.
It doesn’t feel heavy in any way, but it just looks like I overapplied when I only applied a thin layer, and I’m not really a fan of that look.
So, when I wear these I do blot it down on a papertowel, because that way I still get a lot of colorpayoff (I do apply and blot a few times), but I don’t have all of that excess product on my lips.
But with that said, I do find that these lipsticks lasts for a good amount of time, and I do also find that they (at least the darker shades) leave behind a bit of a ‘stain’, so they fade rather gracefully, which is good.
They are also ‘almost matte’ looking, meaning that I think they’re more velvety/natural than matte, but they’re not actually creamy either, because there’s no sheen or glow to them.
But since they’re not like totaly matte, they don’t dry out the lips either, so I don’t really mind that at all.
Other than that I think that these lipsticks are OK. They’re not the best ones I’ve tried, but they’re not the worst either, so I guess it just comes down to personal preference whether you’ll like them or not.
I got mine from Douglas for 74nok a piece.
