So, Zoeva just came out with this eyeshadow palette as a part of a two-piece collection, and I’m one who loves those palettes where I’ve got everything I need from transition shades to lid shades, so I was very excited to get this palette both because the shades looked very promissing online, and because the name “The Basic Moment” spoke to me, but I’m actually a little disappointed in this palette.

Now, the first thing I noticed with this palette was that the shadows are very soft to the touch, and they felt really smooth when I swatched them with my finger, but I also noticed that they aren’t as pigmented as I expected them to be. You can of course build them up if you’d like that, and you will get a lot more color payoff, but since I had very high expectations to this palette, that was a bit of a bummer to me.
And also, since these shadows are so soft, they are also a little bit powdery and you can get fallout from these if you don’t tap off your brush before you apply them, so that’s something to keep in mind if you get this palette.

Now, I also have to talk a little about the shades in this palette, because when I saw this online I thought that the shades would be a good mix of light, medium and deep tones, but when I apply them to my eyes I always feel like I need to pull in another palette to deepen up my transitionshade and crease a little bit, because to me the medium shade is a bit too light, and the darkest shade is too dark, so I really miss that perfect in between shade.
But, the shades that you do get in here are quite beautiful, neutral-to-warm shades, so that way I feel like this palette would be good for many people.

So, other than that these shadows do blend out nicely on the eyes, and you can get them to work for you if you just work a little bit with them.
But, to me, this is not a stand alone palette, and for that reason it doesn’t really win me over.
Now, I will continue to use it in conjunction with other palettes, or other singles, but, sadly, I don’t think that this palette is anything special.

I got mine from Douglas for 230nok.
