Review | Makeup Revolution Matte Base Powder
This is what it says on the Makeup Revolution website:
Meet your next matte made in heaven with our latest addition to the Revolution powder family – Matte Base Powder. Designed with a team matte mantra in mind – because not everyone can do dewy! The perfect partner for Matte Base Foundation. Launching in 18 shades in a range of undertones, this weightless, silky-soft powder blends effortlessly into skin for a natural finish that will help to keep midday shine at bay.
Richly-pigmented, this weightless powder offers a matte solution for oily complexions, or for those who are team matte.
How to use:
Buff product onto prepped & primed skin with a powder brush for a medium veil-like coverage. For added coverage, apply over the top of your favourite shade of Matte Base Foundation for a perfectly matte and smooth finish. Keep oil at bay all day by applying on the go.
Cruelty-Free. Vegan.
So, when it comes to mattifying powders, I actually prefer drugstore over high-end, so when I saw that Makeup Revolution had come out with this matte base powder, I got really excited.
Now, this powder, obviously claims to be mattifying, and this is one of the most mattifying powders I’ve ever tried.
It beats the Rimmel Stay Matte powder, which is my ride or die when it comes to anything mattifying, so I really like that.
However, I find that this powder can look very drying, and it can get a little heavy looking if you’re not careful when you apply it, so I recommend that you use a very light hand with this.
So, this also claims that it will keep your oils under control all day, but I don’t agree with that, ’cause I do have to touch up throughout the day, but it does keep me matte for a lot longer than other powders that I’ve used, and I don’t get as shiny as I normaly do when I’m using this, so I do think that this is a great powder for oil control, and especially during the summer months.
However, like I mentioned, this can make you look a little too dry, and because of that I don’t really like it as a touch-up powder, ’cause it does feel a little heavier when I re-apply it.
Of course, you can use it for touch-ups, but I’d recommend that you have some sort of setting spray on hand, just in case it looks a little too heavy.
And also, I would recommend that you stick to the colored shades, because the translucent one is very chalky, and it does leave a white cast on the skin, so I don’t like that one at all.
But, overall I do think that this is a great powder for those of you with oily or combination skin.
And for the price, I don’t think that you can go too wrong with it.
It’s available on RevolutionBeauty.com for 3£.
